About the Caribbean Veterinary Medical Association Biennial Conference

The Caribbean Veterinary Medical Association is an Association of veterinarians primarily of the English speaking Caribbean countries stretching from Guyana on the South American mainland through the Caribbean archipelago around to Belize in Central America. As veterinary professionals of former British colonies, the first meetings were formal gatherings of government veterinarians. This finally evolved into a biennial meeting encompassing broad continuing education goals with an opportunity for all veterinarians of the region to share experiences, fellowship and fun.

Past Conferences have been held in St. Maarten, Grenada, Trinidad & Tobago Antigua, Barbados, Guyana and Jamaica and these have attracted colleagues from all over the world including Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Africa, India and the United States, attracted no doubt by the offer of quality continuing education along with sun, sand and warm Caribbean hospitality.

At the 2014 Conference in the Cayman Islands, it was decided that the Conference would become an annual event after 2016, to better serve the continuing proessional development needs of the veterinary community as well as satisfy the interest of the growing cadre of international delegates.

As globalisation and internet technology make our world ever smaller and as the understanding of the absolute need for the One Health approach in tackling the challenges faced by all,  the realization that greater intra-regional and extra-regional cooperation is required in these times of global pandemics and epidemics makes it imperative that we foster every avenue of cooperation and dialogue. The CbVMA’s Biennial Conference provides such an opportunity and we cordially invite our colleagues from the entire Western Hemisphere and beyond to join us as we seek to build bridges of friendship and cooperation!
